The North Sea seems so empty and calm, but there is a lot more happening than you think! Surfers, container ships, windmills, drilling platforms, fishermen and seaweed farms all use the same piece of sea. Join the North Sea game and step into the bath. Where would you place a wind farm, or a seaweed farm?
During the Ocean Race, you can play the North Sea Game at the Ocean Live Park daily, between 11.00 and 21.00. We invite you to step into the pool with an attribute, for example a windmill, and give it a place. An expert will tell you whether you have put the attribute in a convenient place. Various topics are discussed, such as seaweed, plastic pollution and employment in the North Sea. And did you know that the North Sea has international borders? Talk to experts and shape the North Sea together!
The North Sea Game was developed by research institute TNO and Double 2 Media Productions in cooperation with the partners of Burgemeester van Jouw Noordzee. The game aims to increase knowledge about the North Sea among the Dutch public. The game fits well with the Municipality of The Hague, a city that invests in sustainability and entrepreneurship for a better world with its Impactcity programme. From Scheveningen, it is working on the sustainable future of the North Sea.
